Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a must see.  The drive from Sorrento was on the Amalfi Coast Highway, which is a winding road that travels along the coast on the edge of cliffs and through tunnels.  The drive was the most picturesque of our trip.

As we entered Positano the streets got smaller and the beautiful coastal scenery turned into a view of the famous cliffside village with colorful buildings.

We stopped at a cute cafe for lunch, walked through the village, took pictures and shopped.

There was a main road with all the shops on it and then there were small stairwells that went through the small neighborhoods.

The views of the coast and the buildings were something I will never forget.  Even though we were only there for an afternoon it was well worth it.

One of the highlights of Positano was the restaurant we went to for dinner.  The drive up the cliffside to the restaurant was the most challenging of the trip.  This was the side of Positano where the locals lived.  The streets were extremely narrow with cars parked on the sides of the road.  It was a two way street barely wide enough for one car at a time. It was by far the scariest driving of my life!

La Tagliata Restaurant was an amazing experience.  If you are in the area plan ahead and make a reservation.  When we arrived a little early we were told to go down and look at the farm while we waited.  Everything we ate that night was raised or grown on their farm.

We sat in their outdoor dining area with an unbelievable view of the coast.  There is no menu.  You choose your wine and they start serving courses of local dishes from Positano.  There must have been 7 courses served and then they ended dinner with Limoncello.  We even had the company of a talking parrot.
