Leed's Castle

From Sorrento we drove back to Naples to catch a flight back to England.  From there we finished off our trip with a few more places near London.  The first was Leed's Castle in Kent.

There is a rich history going back to 879AD.  In the 11th & 12th centuries it was a Norman Stronghold.

As you tour the castle you see where it changed with each century.  In the 13th-15th centuries it was transformed to a Royal Castle.

The castle had been destroyed by fire and rebuilt.  Today it is a museum showing different centuries of decor in different rooms.

It was a typical England day.  Okay, maybe a little worse.  We had to wait for the thunderstorm to finish before walking through the grounds.

The grounds had beautiful gardens, with rolling English hills.

Portions of the grounds still had old structures that were not restored.

The castle has events all year long.  There was a wedding going on while we were there.

One of my wife's favorite parts of our visit was the falconry demonstration.

If you want to see more pictures of our time at Leed's Castle please feel free to look through our Leed's Castle in Kent England 2018 Album.
