My daughter in-law planned an incredible itinerary in Italy. The planning she put into this trip and how well it turned out motivated me to plan my own trip to Italy in 2019.
We arrived in the evening and had a 7:00pm Colosseum Night Tour. Our flight was 30 minutes late, so we missed our meeting time for the tour. Fortunately the tour started at the Roman Forum and then moved to the Colosseum. My daughter in-law got to practice her Italian right away and managed to find our tour guide. She talked him into allowing us to jump in late for the tour.
From there we stopped at Giolitti Gelato, the oldest gelateria in Rome. After our midnight snack we headed back to our apartment to crash for the night.

The line to the museum went on and on. Fortunately we purchased skip the line tickets and were able to head straight to the entrance for our visit. The museum was like no other museum I have ever seen. I couldn't believe how much art and history there was in one building. It was a little overwhelming to try and take it all in.
After the Vatican we met up with the kids and had lunch.
From there we strolled through the city visiting sites like the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and a few other sites.

We were in Rome just long enough for me to realize that I needed to come back and see more.
If you want to see more pictures of our days in Rome please feel free to look through our Rome 2018 Album.
